Information | International tax is becoming a more commonly-encountered area for many taxpayers tax practitioners and business people due to increased global mobility of workers and the increase in cross-border transactions. It is essential to understand the principles that apply and be apple to identify high-risk aspects of international transactions.

After training at Deloitte and qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, Jackie was Group Financial Accountant for a large, listed company before moving to academia, where she developed her skills as an academic specializing in Taxation, authoring, lecturing and researching on a wide range of tax areas and also completing her master’s and PhD qualifications.
In between academic activities, she served as Project Director of Tax at SAICA from 2004 – 2006, managing relationships with key stakeholders (especially SARS and National Treasury), enhancing SAICA members’ tax competence and representing SAICA in discussions with government on tax policy and legislation.
Jackie was Head of the School of Accountancy at Wits University from 2009-2013 and Head of the Department of Accounting at Rhodes University from 2014 - 2020. Since 2021 she has been Head of Tax at Academic One, developing a fully online post-graduate programme for aspiring CA(SA)’s. Jackie is Associate Professor Emeritus at Rhodes University and is a sought-after presenter of tax training for accountants, tax practitioners and corporates. She is the managing author of Silke on Tax Administration, which is published by LexisNexis and updated annually
