| Information | The accounting requirements for a business combination involve many moving parts that must all come together to recognise and measure the identifiable assets and liabilities acquired the consideration transferred for the business and the resultant balancing figure representing goodwill or a gain on a bargain purchase. This course provides practical application guidance to explain the theoretical requirements of IFRS 3 including the recently amended definition of a business and also discusses some of the projects in progress around Business Combinations under Common Control and Goodwill and Impairment that the IASB is currently developing |

Adele De Vos
Adele is a Senior IFRS Technical Advisor at W.consulting, and a financial reporting specialist.
Prior to joining W.consulting, Adele completed her articles with PwC, working at the Johannesburg office, with a focus on Consumer and Industrial Products and Services. After completing her articles, she went on secondment to the PwC Eindhoven office, where she serviced clients across various industries. After returning from Secondment, Adele worked as an IFRS Technical manager at PwC’s Corporate Accounting Services division, where she was promoted to the position of Senior Manager in July 2021. In 2022, Adele joined Teva Pharmaceuticals (Pty) Ltd where she worked as a Senior Financial Manager, to obtain operational and financial management experience. Adele joined the IFRS Advisory team at W.consulting in June 2023.
Her areas of expertise include International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and International Financial Reporting Standard for Small and Medium-sized Entities (IFRS for SMEs). Adele’s IFRS knowledge and experience is diverse and extends across a number of different standards and industries. She provides technical consulting services and training to the firm's clients on these standards, both locally and abroad. Her industry experience includes Consumer and Retail; Telecommunications and Information & Communications Technology, Entertainment & Media and Real Estate.
